How do I view the course catalog?

You can access the course catalog by selecting your state on the map of the United States.  A box will immediately appear for you to select your license type.  Once you have selected your license type, you will be directed to the course catalog, where you can begin selecting courses.

How do I find out how many credit hours I need?

WebCE offers state requirements for each state. Go to the course catalog for your resident state and click on “State Requirements” link located under the “Choose a Course” box once you are in your state’s Course Catalog.

Where can I find information on my state's CE regulations and requirements?

Information on your state’s regulations and requirements can be found on the ‘State Requirements’ page located within the Course Catalog, under the “Choose a Course” box.

Where can I find my available courses once I have ordered them?

Select the Sign In option on the left menu bar, and enter your User ID and Password. Your available courses will be listed under the “My Courses” section located on the menu bar.

Will I have access to my completed course history?

Yes.  Your completed courses will be listed under the “My Courses” section located on the menu bar.

Where can I find the bundled pricing information?

Bundled pricing information will now be located at the top of the “Choose a Course” box in the course catalog.

Once I have added courses to my cart, how do I checkout?

Once a course has been added to your cart, a yellow box will appear at the top of the course catalog that lists the number of courses and total CE hours added, and a checkout link. Click the checkout link to process your order.

Is there a way to find out what courses have already been added to my cart?

Once a course has been added to your cart, an “Already in Cart” message will appear next to the course title on the course catalog.

How do I redeem a promotion number?

Promotion numbers may be redeemed online or by phone.  To redeem online, enter your promotion number in the "Additional Discounts" box provided at checkout.  To redeem by phone, please call our support representatives at 1-877-488-9308.

Are there any fees not included in the course price?

Additional charges that may apply are State Filing Fees where applicable, and book and shipping fees if paper-based courses are selected.  If applicable, you will see these fees added to your total invoice amount, under the “Additional Fees” section of the checkout screen.

How do I obtain a receipt for a previous order?

For online purchases, you may print a complete itemized invoice of your CE purchase from the website. To print an online receipt:

  • Sign in with your UserID and Password
  • Select the "My Account" link on the menu bar, and then select the "My Orders" link and choose the order number
  • Print the Proof of Purchase from your order summary

Can I change the course text size?

Yes.  Students can change the text size of the material by clicking one of the “A” boxes under the title.

What happens if I do not hit the “Save and Exit” button before I exit out of my course?

You do not have to click “Save and Exit” before closing out of the course material.  Your place within the course, and previous progress will be saved automatically.

How many individuals have earned the CITRMS certification?

Since November of 2005, thousands of professionals nationwide have successfully completed the CITRMS course and earned the CITRMS designation – including financial advisors, insurance professionals, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, credit counselors, banking personnel, HR managers, college professors, CPAs and accountants, etc.

Is the CITRMS course certified and if so by whom?

The Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS) course is provided through a cooperative effort by The Institute of Fraud Risk Management (TIFRM) and The Institute Of Consumer Financial Education (ICFE).

How can I use or display my CITRMS designation?

In order to maintain the prestige, recognition, and credibility of the CITRMS designation, it is important to ensure that it is used and displayed properly. Those individuals who have earned the designation are authorized to include the designation after their name. (Example: John Doe, CITRMS). The designation may also be written out in its entirety. (Example: Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist). When written out, the designation should be capitalized. The CITRMS designation is an individual professional designation bestowed upon a single person. It may not be utilized by a company in any form, whether as part of the company name, website, or otherwise, nor may it be utilized by spouses unless both have successfully earned the designation.

I would like to know if there will be opportunities for updates and notifications of CE / CEU approvals for the CITRMS course.

The course has been and is being submitted for a large number of CE/CEU approvals from a variety of professional organizations. Additional information will be provided as approval / acceptance is granted.

Will TIFRM be offering any other courses?

Yes. The Institute will soon be introducing numerous additional training courses, including general education courses and also Advanced Training Modules that will only be available to CITRMS graduates. If you would like to receive updates and notifications of additional training or resource offerings as they are available, you can sign up for our CITRMS Newsletter or opt-in to receive email notifications.

How do I sign up for a course?

You can sign-up for the course by clicking on the Enroll Now button on the home page or the Enroll link in the upper right-hand corner of any page of The Institute of Fraud Risk Management website.

What courses do you offer?

We currently offer the only professional training course specifically devoted to Identity Theft and related fraud – the Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist™ (CITRMS) course. Numerous additional courses will soon be made available by The Institute of Fraud Risk Management.

How much does the CITRMS course cost?

The standard CITRMS course enrollment fee is $275. This includes your online course materials, examination, certification, and certificate.

I do not need the full 30 Continuing Education credits. Can I still take this course?

Yes. Even if you do not need the full Continuing Education credits for which the CITRMS course is accepted, you can still take the course.

Yes, you can start the course and return anytime. You can re-enter the course right where you were left off.

How many questions are in the CITRMS course and final examination?

Each chapter includes a 5-question practice exam. There are 100 questions on the final examination.

What score is required to pass the final exam?

The final exam is 100 questions. You must achieve a score of 80% or better to pass the final exam. (80 correct)

If I don’t pass the final examination, can I retake the final exam?

Yes, you are able to re-take the exam as many times as you need in order to achieve a passing score.

How and when do I receive my certificate?

Once you complete the course and pass the final exam, a certificate will be mailed to you within 3 weeks.

What will I receive upon successful completion of this course?

Upon successful completion of the final exam, you will be awarded the professional designation of “Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist”, and will be authorized to use this designation in your advertising, marketing, stationery, and other professional purposes. Within three weeks of completion, you will receive your official certificate in the mail.
